ASHRAE AND BACKGROUND

ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904.

ASHRAE has more than 57,000 members in more than 132 countries worldwide. Its members are composed of building services engineers, architects, mechanical contractors, building owners, equipment manufacturers' employees, and others concerned with the design and construction of HVAC&R systems in buildings. The society funds research projects, offers continuing education programs, and develops and publishes technical standards to improve building services engineering, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and sustainable development.

The ASHRAE student chapter MAIT was started in Feb 2019. Since its inception the ASHRAE MAIT has witnessed exponential growth. The branch was started with 15 members under the guidance of Dr. Vaibhav Jain.  Presently, the branch has more than 60 student members. The students of this branch have shown extreme compassion and exuberance in discharging all the task taken up by them with utmost dedication and hard work. The branch has grown to be stronger, compassionate, tech savvy and slated to give the better engineers of tomorrow. They are continued to indulge in new, green, and sustainable technological research and generated more practical experience in the field of HVAC & R.
