This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of
material mechanics and structural analysis. It focuses on how
materials deform and fail under various types of loads. Key topics
include stress-strain behavior, deformation in axial members,
torsion in circular shafts, bending in beams, stability of
columns,
and stresses in thin and thick-walled pressure vessels. Students
will also study compound stress systems and analyze strain
energy and deformation in mechanical springs. The course forms
a foundational pillar for advanced studies in design, structural
analysis, and mechanical systems.
