COMPUTER INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING LAB

Lab Incharge: Ms. Surabhi Lata

Lab Technician: Mr. Vinod Babu Dixit

The Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) lab is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide hands-on experience in computer-aided design, manufacturing, and quality control. The lab is equipped with cutting-edge machinery, including a CNC Lathe and CNC Milling Machine, to enable students to design, manufacture, and test innovative products.

Lab Overview:

The primary objective of the CIM lab is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of computer-integrated manufacturing systems, including design, production planning, and quality control. Students will learn to design and manufacture products using simulation software and computer numerical control (CNC) machines.

Key Equipment and software in the Lab:

  1. Computers – More than 25 High-performance Computer systems equipped with various software for drafting, modelling, simulation and programming.
  2. Printer – Enables students to print technical drawings for evaluation and documentation.
  3. Projector – Facilitates instructional demonstrations and collaborative learning.
  4. Software: CNC TRAIN
  5. CNC Lathe: The CNC lathe is a computer-controlled machine tool that uses a rotating cutting tool to remove material from a workpiece. It is used for turning, facing, and drilling operations.
  6. CNC Milling Machine: The CNC milling machine is a computer-controlled machine tool that uses a rotating cutting tool to remove material from a workpiece. It is used for milling, drilling, and tapping operations.
  7. CAM Software: The lab is equipped with CNC Train software for writing the program and simulating the machining of the workpiece.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Design and Manufacturing of a Simple Part: Students will design and manufacture a simple part using CAM software and CNC machines.
  2. CNC Lathe Programming: Students will learn to program the CNC lathe using G-code and M-code.
  3. CNC Milling Machine Programming: Students will learn to program the CNC milling machine using G-code and M-code.
  4. Manufacturing of a Complex Part: Students will design and manufacture a complex part using CAM software and CNC machines.

By providing hands-on experience in computer-aided design, manufacturing, and quality control, the CIM lab prepares students for careers in manufacturing, product design, and quality control.
