ASME-MAIT Student Section

The ASME-MAIT Student Section is a nascent professional society started in the department of mechanical engineering in 2025. The section actively participates in ASME E-Fests, EFx events, and technical competitions such as the Student Design Competition (SDC), Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (HPVC), ASME Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D Challenge (IAM3D), and Extended Reality Challenge (XRC). Additionally, the section organizes technical workshops, expert lectures, industrial visits, and networking events, providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technologies in areas like robotics, sustainable energy, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence.

In addition to technical growth, the ASME-MAIT Student Section emphasizes career development and leadership opportunities. Students gain access to ASME’s mentorship programs, professional networking events, and career guidance sessions, helping them build valuable industry connections. The section also encourages students to participate in Student Leadership Training Conferences (SLTC), Student Leader Weekends (SLW), and ASME’s Early Career Engineer (ECE) programs, equipping them with essential skills in teamwork, project management, and leadership. Through ASME’s scholarships, research fellowships, and technical publications, students are encouraged to explore innovative research and contribute to advancements in mechanical engineering.

Membership in the ASME Student Section at MAIT offers numerous benefits and privileges. Students gain access to a global network of over 90,000 ASME members, exclusive technical resources such as Access Engineering, ASME Smart Brief, and the award-winning Mechanical Engineering magazine, and discounted rates for ASME conferences, training programs, and certification courses. ASME also offers financial support, with over $400,000 in scholarships and grants awarded annually to student members.
