PROBABILITY, STATISTICS AND LINEAR PROGRAMMING LAB

Lab Incharge : Ms Surabhi Lata

Lab Technician : Mr. Vinod Babu Dixit

Lab Overview:

The Probability, Statistics and Linear Programming Lab is designed to train and equip the students with practical implementation of theoretical concepts such as statistical analysis, probabilistic modelling and optimization strategies and techniques. This lab focuses on application of concepts and techniques in real-world problems across different sectors.

Key soft tools and Equipment in the Lab:

The lab is equipped with modern programming software to facilitate computational experiments which includes:

  1. Computers – More than 25 High-performance Computer systems equipped with various software for Programming.
  2. Printer – Enables students to print technical drawings for evaluation and documentation.
  3. Projector – Facilitates instructional demonstrations and collaborative learning.
  4. Software: SciLab for numerical and optimization tasks, Excel for basic statistical computations, Linear programming solvers, R for statistical computing

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Solve real-world problems using discrete and continuous probability distributions.

  2. Organize, summarize, and interpret data using appropriate statistical tools.

  3. Apply statistical hypothesis testing methods to draw conclusions from sample data.

  4. Formulate linear programming models and use optimization techniques to obtain optimal solutions.

This lab plays a crucial role in developing analytical and problem-solving skills, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and their practical implementation. It also helps in gaining a deeper understanding of data-driven decision-making and optimization strategies.
