INJECTION MOLDING AND MOLD DESIGN LAB

Lab Incharge : Mr. Rakesh Chander saini

Lab Technician : Mr. Brijesh Kr. Pal

The Injection Moulding and Mould Design Lab is designed to provide students with practical knowledge of the injection moulding process and mould design principles. This lab is essential for understanding polymer processing, machine operation, and mould design applications.

Lab Overview:

The lab offers hands-on experience setting up, operating, and optimizing injection moulding machines. Students learn about the different constructional features of injection moulding components and work with advanced design tools for mould development. The integration of CAD software enables efficient mould design and analysis.

Key Equipment in the Lab:

  1. Computers – High-performance systems equipped with design software for mould modelling and simulation.
  2. Printer – Allows students to print technical drawings and mould designs for review.
  3. Projector – Facilitates instructional demonstrations and collaborative learning.
  4. Software: ONSHAPE – A powerful cloud-based CAD software for designing and analyzing injection moulds, Fusion 360  open source

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the working principle and stages of the injection molding process.

  2. Identify and describe the functions of various components of an injection molding machine.

  3. Configure and set appropriate process parameters for efficient injection molding operation.

  4. Demonstrate safe and effective operation of an injection molding machine.

This lab plays a crucial role in preparing students for careers in plastic processing, mold design, and manufacturing industries.
